The Big Up Sustainability Statement

We would like to invite everyone coming to The Big Up to be part of our Sustainability Initiative! We take great pride in our pristine festival grounds and want to preserve the natural beauty of our site for many years to come. This year we will have a number of sustainability initiatives in place and we ask that all attendees take part in the efforts. Because many of these initiatives rely heavily on individual knowledge and participation, we aim to educate all attendees, artists, and staff on how to properly guide their actions with sustainability in mind during the festival, and hopefully in the greater world beyond once the festival is over! We can only hope to eventually make The Big Up truly sustainable with the help of each and every person in attendance. We will have specific initiatives in place in order to reduce the amount of landfill waste created and increase recycling and composting; reduce water usage; encourage the use of local, fair trade, and/or organic materials and products; and minimize the use of fossil fuels.
